Overview

Located in the heart of Underwood, Queensland, Chatori Underwood stands out as a vibrant modern Indian restaurant that captures the essence of authentic street food with a refined touch. Situated on Parramatta Road, this spot fuses traditional Indian flavors with a contemporary dining experience, making it an ideal destination for both casual diners and families seeking something fresh yet familiar.

The menu here is a carefully curated journey through India's diverse culinary landscape, with standout dishes like the Thali, a generous platter that delivers variety and balance in every bite, and the Masala Dosa—crispy, savory, and filled with aromatic spices. Street food lovers will find gems in the Papdi Chaat, Dahi Puri, and Chhole Puri, each crafted with a harmony of textures and bold chutneys that bring authentic flavors to life without overwhelming oiliness or heavy gravies. For those leaning toward Indo-Chinese fare, the Chow Mein Noodles make for a flavorful, albeit slightly understated, choice that could benefit from a bit more refinement but still complements the core menu offerings.

Drinks at Chatori Underwood carry their own charm — from inventive iced coffees like the Orange Coffee Punch and nut-infused Nutella Iced Latte to creamy classics like the Flat White. This attention to beverage craftsmanship rounds out the menu, appealing to a diverse crowd.

The ambiance is straightforward and welcoming, with a focus on functionality over flair. Its family-friendly orientation is clear, with options on the menu that cater well to younger palates and reasonable pricing that echoes the authentic street food experience. Staff interactions have been generally positive, though some reviews note occasional delays and service lapses that could affect the overall flow, especially during peak hours.

Customer feedback paints a picture of a place where the food consistently shines—even if the wait times require patience. Regulars praise the generous portions and genuine flavors, particularly highlighting the Raj Kachori and Chole Tikke Chaat, which layer tangy and spicy notes with expert balance. The long waits and sporadic service hiccups are a common thread, yet many feel the quality of the cuisine ultimately justifies the experience.

Chatori Underwood thrives as a destination for those craving modern Indian street food with an authentic heart. It's well-suited for food enthusiasts eager to explore rich and varied tastes in a casual setting, families seeking familiar and exciting flavors, and anyone appreciative of a culinary adventure centered around bold spice blends and freshly prepared dishes. While there is room for improvement in service speed and the Indo-Chinese section, the strong, delightful flavors and thoughtful presentation make Chatori a worthy stop on the South East Queensland food map.

Absolutely loved the food at Chatori! Every dish was packed with authentic street food flavours—without the usual overload of oil or dripping gravy. We ordered the yummiest Manchurian Hakka noodles, cheese dosa, momos, and paneer rolls, and honestly, everything was spot on. The taste was different in the best way—truly reminded us of classic Indian street food done right. For kids, they have a good menu too, and the prices are very reasonable. Oh, and the Oreo shake? It was so good it disappeared before we could even take a photo—haha! Will definitely be coming back.

LONG WAIT TIME! Great flavours, price and presentation. Average atmosphere. Bad service. Chatori Chaat: 7/10 PANI PURI. $7 for 8 pieces. Not spicy or minty, wish it was a bit more flavourful. Crispy, freshly fried texture. Great price point. 10/10 CHOLE TIKKE CHAAT. $12. Divine flavours. Tangy with just the right amount of sweet from the tamarind. Will get again! 6/10 SEV PURI $8 for 6. It was standard. A bit dry. Golgappe is better. 9/10 DAL PAKWAN. Delicious Dal, mild in spiciness, but full of flavours. Wish there was more than two pieces of pakwan for the amount of dal. ⏰THE WAIT TIME…. It took so long for just entree dishes. Other tables who ordered after us got their complete orders delivered first. Was so hungry and considered leaving the store after waiting 40 min. From reading the other Google reviews, it seems like this is a common theme. The service was bad and non communicative. We had to write down our own order, which is fine, but the server took our notepad away without a word, confirmation or eye contact; we had no idea if the order went through and were just sitting ducks. If you want to come here, bring a book or something and be prepared to wait a LONG time. The food itself is great, but the opposite of “fast” food.

We had the chance to try few different dishes, and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were well-balanced, the presentation was beautiful, and the portion size was just right. The chutneys really stood out and elevated the entire dish of "Raj Kachori", Basket chat and pani puri. Service was friendly and efficient, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great Indian street food meal! One piece of healthy feedback I’d offer to the owner is to give the Indo-Chinese offerings a bit more attention. I personally felt they were a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the menu and similar dishes at other Indian fast food spots. With a few tweaks, I think they could really shine and match the high standard set by the rest of the food. Looking forward to coming back and trying more!

I recently dined at Chatori Indian Restaurant in Underwood, and it was an absolute delight! The Indian food was phenomenal—bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly spiced. Every dish we tried was cooked to perfection, and the sweets were an incredible treat, rich and indulgent. The customer service was equally impressive, with friendly, attentive staff who made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a memorable meal. I highly recommend Chatori to anyone craving top-notch Indian cuisine and exceptional service! We were so happy with the tasty food, sweets and service that we ended up going back to Chatori restaurant the next day to pick up some more sweets and try out other items from the menu.

We really enjoyed the basket chaat, and the thali was good too. The sandwiches were delicious. I didn’t give a 5-star rating mainly because of the rabri; it had a strange taste, and I could feel the crunchy ice while eating it. The falooda noodles also tasted off. Overall, though, I had a great time there.
